Tabaxi Tribes

Before the time of the Thrikreen and Tabaxi war, nine main tribes of Tabaxi ruled the lands. Each of the nine had a city of their own, individual customs, but the teachings of the protector never changed from Tabaxi to Tabaxi. Each of the tribes had a different colour patterning to their fur, this being the easiest way to tell the individual tribes apart. Interbreeding between different tribes and the randomness of life created some anomalies but for most their tribe defined what they looked like.

Here are the listings of the tribes with a brief description for each:

Mrrew

This was Denton’s own tribe, generally black furred that greys with age. Being so close to the protector has made the majority of Tabaxi from this tribe extremely loyal and resolute in their following of his teachings. They are highly religious and trust in the race as a whole and their leader Denton.

Throk

This tribe was all but destroyed in the Tabaxi Thrikreen war, the tribe mainly consisting of hunters and warriors they refused to run even in the face of the entire Thrikreen army. Their fur coloration is pale tan, usually with black striped running down their head or back. The Throk are stocky in build for Tabaxi even the females are breed to fight.

Souiss

The Souiss were the first tribe to fall in the war usually great trackers and trappers, their usual diligent watch was not enough to withstand the full might of the Thrikreen army. Their fur is dark brown like the bark of the trees, small black stripes run through it at random places. Allowing them to blend in to the trees whilst they hunt.

Finba

The Finba were the second largest tribe smaller only to the Mrrew. They are great planners and tacticians, managing their resources better than any of the other tribe’s. Their fur is usually red or dark orange in colour, tiger stripes have been known on some of the younger cublings but they tend to fade with age.

Kentro

A tribe of engineers and inventors, the Kentro are the main suppliers of artillery weapons and machinery to the other main tribes. They are the most intelligent of the tribes, even the hunters amongst them will use their brains before they have to resort to using brawn to solve a situation. Their fur is usually light brown, which goes a blonde grey with age.

Brast

The smallest tribe, only barely established a city in their own right years before the Thrikreen war. Before they could create a true city of their own they were governed as a group of smaller towns, with a high council of their own. They tend to be very diplomatic, willing to listen to others problems and help were needed. Their fur is a cream in colour blending to black at the extremities of their limbs and ears.

Sansk

The Sansk were one of the first tribes to establish themselves under the teachings of Shandrah. Others sprung up around them and set their borders and hunting grounds. Having to free rain to expand and colonise new territories the Sansk have grown very little from their initial creation as a tribe. Their fur is a patchy mix of black, white and grey varying in colour and pattern with each family and cubling.

Crick

The Crick were great farmers and experts on wildlife before the Thrikreen war. The Crick have been the main reason the Tabaxi have been able to re-establish themselves so easily, and provide food for all that went with them to the new city of Shandrah. Their fur is long shaggy and grey, patched or striped with black or dark brown.

Frro

The Frro were the fanatically religious warrior tribe, ritual scars and tattoos cover the entirety of their bodies. Devout in the knowledge that their faith and courage in their race working together as a whole should protect them. It was also the cause of their downfall, as a few of them fled when Korvan attacked their great city. All those that stayed burned. The Frro’s fur patterning is usually black with mottling of brown or tan throughout their fur.

Tabaxi Names

Tabaxi names are made up from the combination of two parts; the first part is their tribe name, followed by the family name. Tabaxi surnames as therefore created to look like Souiss’iktain (Souiss being the tribe name, followed the family name iktain). The tribal names are given as above and form the start of the surname the final part of the surname are for your personal creation or even part of your roleplay. Tabaxi families still exist feel free to roleplay new families that you can create and develop.
