Nosferatu

Where does a circle begin, where does it end?
When did time begin, when will it end?

For one thing to begin, another has to end first. These are fundamental spacial and temporal concepts used to explain the world and the universe.

But they are wrong.

The universe does not simply begin or end. Space is dependent on matter, time is dependent on space and matter is simply another from of energy. All is very
relative. It is impossible to ask what was before the universe or what will be after the universe stops expanding. The only true indicator of the state of the universe is the entropy, the measure of chaos.

Often, one can find in the old scriptures phrases like "Nosferatu came into existence" or "Nosferatu appeared and shaped the universe". No matter how convincing this might appear, it is also wrong. Nosferatu did not simply came into existence. He was. He is. He will be.

Now, let me tell you about Nosferatu. The truth. Or at least as truthful as it can be in a universe so relative: Nosferatu did create Kyderria from a lifeless piece of rock floating around a star in a galaxy much like any other. Nosferatu did also create the first races, Sidhe and Dragons. Why he did it? We can only guess. We can also only guess why the Nameless One (of course, his real name is known to me, but I will not anger powers far greater than myself by mentioning it) was so eager to destroy Nosferatu's creation. The scriptures often refer to the Nameless One as Nosferatu's brother for the lack of a better association. It is like calling chaos and order or light and darkness siblings. Fact is, the absence of one means the presence of the other. Nosferatu could only create Kyderria in the absence of the Nameless One. And The Nameless One could only corrupt it in Nosferatu's absence. The struggle between the creatures created by either one is epic, but total annihilation would be the result should Nosferatu and the Nameless One ever meet in combat.

But let us go back in time and space, well before even Kyderria’s central star was born:

The circle that is the universe was broken. We do not know why, when or how that happened. It just did. The rift created a passage between our universe and something else. One might call it another plane of existence, a parallel universe or dimension. This other universe was vastly different from ours. And whatever creations it harbored, they were all dying, if one can call it that. As the rift expanded these desperate creatures entered our universe, contaminating it, and were threatening not only to destroy the creatures living here, but to destroy the very fabric of it all. Nosferatu and the Nameless One realized that the intruders must be stopped and the rift needed to be closed forever. They struggled side by side against the onslaught.

But the battle was not going favorable. Most of creation was destroyed. Almost all life created by Nosferatu or the Nameless One was gone. The enemy even hacked pieces out of the very fabric of Nosferatu and the Nameless One themselves. Later on, some of these pieces formed the lesser Deities, others vaporized into the ether where they remain as a source of mana.

Nosferatu and the Nameless One were both distraught by the loss of what they had created. They were beaten. All their creatures had vanquished. Only the souls of the life forms remained, floating in the desolate emptiness of the universe.

And it was this total defeat which bore total victory!

The intruders from the rift could destroy everything, but not the souls of the living creatures. Hence, Nosferatu and the Nameless One gathered the souls of their first creations and instilled the power to fight in them. The Nameless One gave the souls of his former creatures a sense of justice, goodness and will strength, while Nosferatu stirred hatred and uncompromising evil in the spirits of life forms he once created. And so, angels and demons came into existence.

With their spirit armies and the lesser deities to lead them, Nosferatu and the Nameless One returned to the rift. The battle was ferocious but swift. Every single intruder was slain, either by the claws of the demons or the flaming swords of the angels. Their gods and leaders were captured and then executed most gruesomely (even by my standards) by Nosferatu and the Nameless One. Their dead bodies were pushed back into the rift, both, as a warning to whatever still lived on the other side, but mostly to cleanse our universe from the corrupting taint. Finally, and with the last joined effort the two would ever agree upon again, Nosferatu and the Nameless One closed the rift and therefore mended the circle that is our universe.

But the story did not stop there.

After the rift was closed, Nosferatu and the Nameless One parted, each determined to rebuild what was lost. The spirit armies were no longer useful to either. Unsure what to do with us, Nosferatu and the Nameless One created safe havens for us by bending space around itself. They called them Heaven and Hell. Soon we realized that our new home was a prison! While things were able to get in, nothing could ever leave! At first, we hated our prison. We wanted to see the universe. We wanted to be free! As time progressed however, we changed - the unabated evil, the heat of hatred, the fire of passion, the pains, the eternal torture - became home to us. I can only assume the angels feel similar about their enclave.

But all was not well. By definition, Nosferatu and the Nameless One always had opposing goals. What these goals are, we can only speculate, but we know that they contradict one another. And even the vastness of the universe was not great enough to avoid confrontation. At first, the struggle was mild - some skirmishes on peripheral worlds, involving lesser creatures with small numbers of casualties. But soon, the confrontation widened. Nosferatu and the Nameless One created gateways to Heaven and Hell, so they could summon us into battle more easily. More and more worlds were devastated. In the end, the universe became yet again a desolate, lifeless emptiness!

Well, almost.

There was a small planet in an average solar system, in a galaxy much like any other. But now, this planet is the center of the struggle, the center of creation and destruction, the center of the universe itself - Kyderria.

How do I know all this, you ask?

Well, I am Rrwaglor, first of the demons.
