The MUD we always wanted to play Mage"A lone figure strolls along the path through the dark forest. His unhurried pace belies the danger of the treacherous path; many a traveller, deceived by the lull of the noiseless forest, has let down his guard, only to be beset by bandits and brigands. The rustle of leaves, crack of dry twigs, and veritably, a sizeable group of highwaymen make their way out of the surrounding flora and encircle the traveller. The man seems remarkably unperturbed; the nonchalant expression on his face as he removes his cloak is at complete contrast to the current exigency. A confident, almost arrogant smirk spreads across his face as he surveys the situation around him. The roughs begin to close in, brandishing their blades in clumsy, but nonetheless dangerous, hands. Yet, before they can come within striking range, arcs of lightning bounce from the travellers hands and skewer the hapless marauders. The stench of burnt flesh fills the air, and one by one, the brigands fall, til naught but the lone traveller remains on that deserted, aphotic path." The lure of the sheer power of magic draws many to walk the path of a Mage. Many are able to utilise at least the most rudimentary of magical spells and abilities, but few are more adept than the Mage. They are the most adroit spell casters of all the classes, and the only which are able to handle the powerful draconian and enchanting spells. There is, however, a price to pay for their magical capacity; there is none more inept at weapon handling than a Mage. All Mages begin with skill in the dagger. Any other weapon skills must be purchased, at an extremely high rate. |
